# Overview

Decentrex is a decentralized perpetual futures contracts exchange. It is powered by [Synthetix](https://synthetix.io/) smart contracts, and runs on [Optimism](https://optimism.io) Ethereum L2. Dynamic pricing is enabled by [Pyth](https://pyth.network/) oracle feeds.

Features include:

* **Non-custodial:** We never take custody of your funds. Trustless smart contracts do all the heavy lifting.
* **Deep liquidity:** We're able to provide deep liquidity for our users, thanks to our partners' simulated liquidity algorithms.
* **Instant transactions:** Nearly instant transactions are but just one of the benefits of using Layer 2 technology.
* **Low fees:** Built on Optimism Ethereum Layer 2 with low gas fees.

**Please note:** Decentrex is currently in beta testing. Any action you take on the platform is strictly at your own risk, please act only under thorough consideration.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://decentrex.gitbook.io/decentrex/introduction/overview.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
